I spent some time last night trying to figure this out and my little brain just didn’t catch on. (Maybe it had something to do with it being after midnight, I don’t know). Anyway I know that although I am physically only two weeks pregnant (tomorrow), I am counted as four. Now when I tell my husband this he is skeptical. Can anyone who ‘gets it’ please simplify it for me? I just feel to dumb. In other news, I peed on a stick again this morning. I couldn’t help it. Thank God there were still two lines, with the telling line being darker than it was last time. I feel better. In other other news, seems that when I got up at the butt-crack of dawn to do the said peeing on the stick (because my bladder insisted it couldn’t wait any longer) I experienced my first morning sickness. Oh joy. In other other other news, I only have enough Utrogestan left for today and tomorrow. I tried to call Dr. Voyeur to see if I should go get some more and haven’t been able to get a hold of him yet. How long did you stay on progesterone support? -UPDATE— Finally got ahold of the doc and he wants me to come by the office tomorrow for more meds, plus more of a med i ran out of on monday. Now why couldn't he have just given me enough to begin with??--also, it is 1pm and i havent' had any cramps so far today. I don't know if that is good news or not! lol ------ All of your comments have really meant the world to me, you girls so kick ass! |
| Lola December 31, 2004 11:06 PM PST Yikes, I'm awfully late to the game. CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! I'm so happy to hear that this IVF worked for you, it's definitely good news. BTW, I stayed on the IM prgesterone until 8 weeks, and my doctor wants me to keep taking the Crinone (vaginal progesterone) supplements through 12 weeks. | ||
| JenP December 31, 2004 02:28 AM PST Stop POAS at 6 weeks, seriously. The hcg is too high and it will actually make the lines LIGHTER with each progressive day, causing absolute mania. My DR confirmed this, that those tests are built for ultra sensitivity, and once you pass 10,000 it's just too much and they can actually go negative. V scary thoughts. My Midwife put it like this. Pregnancy lasts 268 days from the day of conception. But for ease of convention, they add in those extra '14' days (presuming everyone is normal and hence why I bloody hate that spinning wheel) to get the very evenly devisable 280 days. Which then = 40 weeks. So, if you're anal like I am, I go by days post conception. Ie, today I am 54 dpo which means my fetal age is 7w5d and my gest age is 9w5d. By that stupid ass spinning wheel I'd be closer to 11 weeks. Which is stupid. I hate that wheel. Best wishes | ||
| AuntPam December 31, 2004 12:42 AM PST yayayayayya! I'm so excited for you! And I'm keeping all my good thoughts and such aimed at you (and of course, some for myself!) Now, I'm 10 weeks pg today and still on oral Progesterone supps. I got to switch from shots to oral at about 5-6 weeks. As far as morning sickness...if you're like me you're loving every minute of it. I've spent 7 years trying to get pregnant and I'm enjoying every wave of nausea, trip to the bathroom, and icky tummy feeling. I haven't bothered trying to understand the whole counting from LMP vs. ovulation. I just go with the flow. Some things aren't worth the worry. Congrats again! And hang in there. | ||
| bermuda December 30, 2004 09:22 PM PST yay for the darker second line! yay for the nausea! But a reserved yay because I don't want you to end up like me. Yay for the doc giving you more meds. Everything looks really positive my friend, all signs are pointing in the right direction. As to the dating thing, it goes like this: You are 4 weeks pregnant by typical Western tradition, with a pg lasting 40 weeks You are 2 weeks GESTATION, which means that egg met sperm and created a life 2 weeks ago, with a typical gestation lasting 38 weeks. Tertia's blog has a really great calendar that tells you all the great details, and all the milestones and tests to look forward to. If you have a hard time finding it, let me know and I will email you the link. Janet | ||
| Enuj December 30, 2004 05:37 PM PST Yea!! morning sickness, joy! joy! You might not be so overjoyed if it lasts 8 months like it did with my first one. I never cramped, but then again I wasn't on any meds eather. I'm so exited for you and feel very privledged to get to spend this pregnancy with you. See you in a couple of weeks | ||
| Katie December 30, 2004 02:16 PM PST Glad you got your meds and your first bout of morning sickness. I just hope it isn't too bad for you!! I was on my progesterone supps until I was 12 weeks. And don't freak out if the prescription says not to take while pregnant. It is ok and lots of us use it. And remember, the progesterone supps made my cramps worse after I took them so don't worry about that either. The cramps (and other symptoms) do come and go. :) Katie | ||
